What to Expect During Your Invisalign® Consultation
Invisalign® uses a unique mapping technique to make the process as painless and possible. One of our doctors will take a 3D image of the patient’s teeth, which is then used to create a correction strategy. Once the imaging has been processed, a live timelapse will be available to demonstrate the progress of the smile at different stages of the treatment. After the strategy has been finalized, trays are then created from the images and provided to the patient to begin their treatment within a week; however, the process can be expedited to receive trays the same day as the initial appointment.
Pain Expectations and Maintenance Requirements
Compared to traditional braces, pain levels during Invisalign® treatment are minimal, but it is normal to feel additional pressure or discomfort during the first few days of using a new set of aligners. Each set will typically last anywhere between one and two weeks depending on the patient’s treatment plan.
It is important to remember to take out the aligners when eating or drinking, and patients must brush their teeth before putting the hardware back in place. Additionally, patients will also need to gently brush and rinse the aligners each night to ensure they stay clean. It is typical to attend check-up appointments every six to eight weeks.
